I've noticed that in this chapter of my life, I have been getting more in touch with my intuition. When an important event, decision, or conflict comes across my path I have been working with my gut feeling to help me get through the situation. Of course it is good to sit and think logically about what is arising in front of you, but sometimes that can lead to overthinking or misguided judgment. Let me give you an example in my recent case of using my intuition. So, I had to make a decision about a trip that I just recently went on. At first I was thinking heavily about canceling the trip due to the weather, which showed constant wind and rain. I was so close to canceling the trip that I even called the place that I booked and looked into the refund process. After knowing that I would be able to get almost a full refund I was starting to think that it would be a good idea to start looking into another place to stay for my vacation that would have better weather, even though that entailed a lot more planning on such a short notice. I started to become stressed and was stuck overthinking my possibilities. Right before I had to make the phone call to cancel my trip, my intuition kicked in. I got a feeling that I should just let go of the worry and stick to the original plan. Thankfully with a little bit of praying, and positivity, the weather turned out to be okay and my trip was great!
Some may say that what I just described to you was luck, but let me teach you a little more about intuition so you can see what it truly is and how you can harness the power.
When you think about a decision you need to make, you are of course using your brain. It requires you to imagine the future and consider all the different outcomes. In a lot of cases that's great, most people like to get through their life that way. But somewhere along the way, for a moment in time, your intuition is going to come through. When your intuition comes up it is more of a feeling than a thought. When I am involved in an emotional endeavor and my intuition arises, I tend to feel it in my heart space. I even find myself placing my hand over my heart when the feeling is there. It's not something you can explain all too well, it's more of a sense of knowing. When I woke up in the morning before I had to cancel the trip, I had an unexplained sense of knowing that I wasn't supposed to cancel. Sure enough the sun ended up popping out the first day into my vacation. It was magical to watch the weather change in my favor after being under the impression that it would rain all week. In that moment I was filled with gratitude for trusting my intuition.
In order to be able to trust that beautiful sense that has been planted inside you, I am going to give you some tips that will let you see how powerful it really is. One practice that I suggest that can help you connect with this part of yourself is to meditate. Take some time out of your day, everyday, to sit in silence with your thoughts. Try not to attach yourself to any feeling or thought, just let it come, then let it go. Meditating is one of the best ways to get grounded within yourself. Once you feel secure with yourself and an obstacle comes across your path, just take a breath and wait for the feeling to come. You are now secure with yourself, so you can feel okay trusting that feeling. Wait and see how the obstacles start to become easier to manage.
Another thing that I have done that has really helped me to connect to my intuition is that I got clear on what I want out of my life. I've written down my goals and dreams for myself in this lifetime, I am working on turning away from the things that are getting in the way of what I have written down. One of the things I'm manifesting is a peaceful state of mind. Lately there have been situations that have occurred that have threatened that goal, so instead of getting myself all confused on what I have to do in order to protect my peace, I simply just sit with my first feeling that comes to my consciousness and let that direct me. It takes practice, but once you first feel your intuition there is no going back. It is fun to explore and soon you will see the power it holds.
This concludes my new found knowledge on this strange but beautiful feeling that I've discovered within myself. I hope that with some of the information I've given you, you can start to learn how to work with your intuition as well. I am new to this practice so as I go along and learn more I will make sure to update and give more examples that I have come across.
