Meditating is all about finding stillness. When we are still, we are able to think more clearly. If you are experiencing intrusive thoughts, this is a great way to get to the root cause of those thoughts and change your thinking. It is how we tap in to our subconscious mind. When you first start meditating it will feel unnatural, this is because we as humans of the 21st century are constantly in go-mode. In fact, your brain usually only gets a break when you are sleeping, and it gives you a peek into your subconscious by giving you wild dreams that leave you thinking "What was that all about?" Meditation is a more controlled way of looking inward. Here is what you will need:

  1. A quiet place where you can't be disturbed or embarrassed if someone walks in on you sitting on the floor with your eyes closed.

  2. An open mind

Thats it! Now here are some tips for how to actually do it:

  1. Find or create a mantra that resonates with you, and use this to go back to when your mind wanders. For example: if you begin your meditation by clearing your mind to welcome thoughts from your subconscious and then find yourself thinking about if you should take the leap and get bangs, simply repeat your mantra to recenter.

  2. If you find it difficult to clear your mind, focus your thoughts on what you are manifesting, personal goals you have, or things you would like to release.

  3. Don't commit yourself to a long meditation, start with five minutes and as you get comfortable with it you can extend the time. Setting a timer can be very helpful, just do your best not to open your eyes and watch it.

  4. Put on some meditation music. This hides the natural noises of your environment and helps get you in the zone. You can even find meditation music with specific frequencies that match your intention for this practice. For example, I like energy clearing frequencies as I sometimes use meditation as a reset.

  5. Try meditating at the start of your day, I find this to be the most powerful, it really can alter the course of how you walk through your day. It is a great way to be present and aware of your goals as you move through your daily tasks.

There you have it! While it may seem intimidating at first, there really is no right or wrong way to meditate. You will find what works best for you. The more you practice this skill, the more you will watch your reality change and be able to recenter wherever you go.

Happy Meditating!
